Substitute English Teaching Jobs in Ho Chi Minh City

Attention English teachers living in Saigon: My friend has an English center on Tu Xuong Street in District 3 and is in urgent need of a substitute English teacher, and more permanent staff for the future. Please read the following then either call 848. 39326594 or Create a Teacher Listing to be notified about other open English (or Vietnamese) teaching or tutoring jobs around Vietnam:

I am looking for a substitute teacher at my center for a couple weeks for 2 advance classes (students, working adults) (Until August 23rd with option to continue long terms and a lot more hours). I asking around and guess it is good to ask within the circle of people I know.

I will need a teacher as early as next week for:
Thurseday evening 5.45 - 7.15pm
Thurseday morning - 8.45 - 10.15am

These are communication english classes (only focus on speaking activities in class for students)
Advance 1 is 15usd/hr

The topics from week 1 to week 10 are:

1) Intro
2) Travel
3) Describing People – Comparisons
4) Worry Advice
5) Advertising
a) Project: Design a totally new imaginary product and create a 3-minute commercial
6) Romance
7) Future
8) Crime
9) Technology
10) Telling a Story

But you can improvise.

Software Outsourcing to Vietnam: A Major Challenge

This post comes out of a conversation I had with my friend Prithvi, who has years of experience in the outsourcing industry both here and in China and other countries.

Outsourcing is a huge industry here in Vietnam. It solves several problems for Vietnam. First, it brings in much needed income. Second, it does so without requiring a high ratio of expensive imported inputs (compare this to making shoes which are exported for a cheap price, but most of the costs come from materials which must be imported). Third, it helps advance domestic use of technology, which should make all industries more efficient.

Where is Saigon?

It's not wrong to wonder where in the world Saigon is.

Saigon is the name of the city now officially known as Ho Chi Minh City. But most people who call Saigon home call their home Saigon and it's mostly tourists who I hear refer to it as Ho Chi Minh City (or Ho Chi Minh Ville for the French).

After the Vietnam/American War ended in 1975, many place names ceased to exist such as Saigon, South Vietnam, and plenty of street names.

Tu Do is now Dong Khoi, Thong Nhat is Le Duan. And Tan Son Nhut Airport is now Tan Son Nhat International Airport. Rue Paul Blanchy has been Hai Ba Trung since the 1950s.

Those who haven't seen Vietnam for decades will be confused not just by the geographical changes but the incredible amount of development and modernization that has since taken place.
